SoFE Young Researcher Award (Nominations Closed)
The Society of Food Engineering (SoFE) welcomes nominations for the inaugural SoFE Young Researcher Award. A SoFE professional member can nominate a deserving young professional for this award, subject to the eligibility criteria below. PepsiCo, a Global Leader in Convenient Foods and Beverages, sponsors this award. Society of Food Engineering (SoFE) Young Researcher Award Nomination is due on or before July 10, 2024.
A plaque and $2,500 cash prize will be presented to the award recipient at the 2024 Conference of Food Engineering (CoFE), to be held from August 25 to 28, 2024, in Seattle, USA. The award recipient is required to attend CoFE 24 in Seattle to receive the award.
Eligibility
- Received Ph.D. in food engineering or allied disciplines within five years as of December 31, 2023.
- Currently work in the food engineering domain in academia or government.
Evaluation Criteria
- Individual contributions to research to significantly impact and benefit the food engineering community by promoting sustainable food processing, manufacturing, packaging, and closely related areas.
- Innovations in food engineering technologies and
- Strong evidence of accomplishments, contributions, and recognitions in food engineering, processing, manufacturing, or packaging (patents, licenses, high-impact peer-reviewed publications, awards, leadership positions, etc.).
- Demonstrated service to SoFE and other professional societies with a food engineering
- Strong evidence of supporting and promoting DEI
Nomination Materials and Procedures (Nominations Closed)
The nomination package should include the following materials, and be submitted by email as a single pdf file to societyoffoodengineering@gmail.com:
- Nomination form submitted by a SoFE member (https://socfoodeng.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Nomination-Form-SoFE-Young-Researcher-Award.docx )
- A maximum 2-page nomination letter from a professional SoFE
- A brief CV – up to 5 pages – in Times New Roman font 12
- Three support letters of one page
